What are your predictions for the game today? I actually think it’s helpful they’re starting the non-running QB today. I don’t think that’s enough to change the outcome, but it helps Arkansas stay competitive. I’m taking Tennessee 21-6.
It's been brought to my attention that there's a rumor circulating on a couple of message boards that Isaiah Sealy had left the team and unenrolled from school.
However, I checked with a source close to the team and was emphatically told that it was 100% incorrect. He's still on the team and going through rehab/PT. (It woulda been really weird for that rumor to be true considering he was announced as part of the team at Primetime at the Palace on Friday.)
There are a lot of things I could share after last night's beatdown at Texas A&M, but here's one I bet you haven't realized:
The SEC's leading rusher and leading receiver through five weeks are both former Arkansas commits.
Florida's Jadan Baugh leads the league with 613 rushing yards. (He's also tied for the FBS lead with 11 TDs on the ground.) He was committed to the Hogs' 2024 class for seven months before flipping to the Gators.
Mississippi State's Anthony Evans III leads the league with 574 receiving yards, moving ahead of Chris Marshall with a 166-yard performance vs. Alabama yesterday. He was committed to the Hogs' 2023 class for 10 months before decommitting. He eventually pledged to Oklahoma and flipped to Georgia, where he spent two years before transferring to MSU.
Last night, former Pulaski Academy standout and Little Rock native Joseph Himon II ran for 162 yards and 2 TDs on just 10 carries to help Northwestern spank Penn State 34-13. That’s nearly as many yards as Braylen Russell and Sutton Smith have combined through four games (181 yards).
Then so far today, I’ve seen former Hog TE Shamar Easter (Ashdown) catch a TD pass to cap North Carolina’s opening drive vs Notre Dame (with Petrino calling plays, of course) and Razorback legacy Drake Lindsey (Fayetteville) went 3 of 3 for 66 yards while leading Minnesota on a TD drive to open up its game vs Michigan.
Maybe it’s a good sign for guys like Russell, CJ Brown, Quincy Rhodes Jr, etc tonight?
What are your thoughts, predictions for today’s game against Texas A&M?
I’m a little worried about today. I’ve heard enough talk that I think parts of our fan base believe were just as good as Texas A&M and I think they’ll be in for a serious shock. I’m taking Texas A&M 42-24. It also looks like the weather could be bad so if it becomes a rain game I’d say more like 35-3.
Yeahhhh… I don’t think the Hogs cover the 13.5-point spread. If they do, I think it’s gonna take a defensive/special teams TD (or two).
With so many Razorbacks storylines across football, baseball and the other sports, I think short video recaps would be a nice addition to the photo galleries fans already share after games. Even 15 to 30 seconds stitched from a handful of good photos, with the score and a couple of key moments as captions, is easier to pass around in group chats than a long gallery.
There are AI tools now that can turn still photos into short clips with a bit of camera movement, for example Nereo, though for sports I would still trust real game footage first and use animated photos only for things like signing days or senior nights where there is no broadcast video.
Do people here prefer photo galleries, short clips, or full highlight packages?
I find video generation to be weird from still photos. Are you a razorbacks fan?
Looks like there will be a pair of former Razorbacks playing in the prestigious Arizona Fall League this offseason: Charles Davalan and Cody Adcock.
Davalan isn't too much of a surprise because he's a first-round pick who put up very good numbers in his first full professional season, which saw him get promoted to Double-A just before the end of the year.
Adcock is probably a name most fans wouldn't have expected -- or possibly even completely forgot because he last pitched at Arkansas in 2023. But he's grinding his way through the minors and also got promoted to Double-A halfway through the year. Between High-A and Double-A, he posted a 3.88 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 86 strikeouts in 62.2 IP across 39 appearances, all out of the bullpen. He also earned seven saves and held opponents to a .171 batting average.
Also, if you don't know what the Arizona Fall League is, it's a league that all 30 MLB teams send their top prospects to get more development after the season. A few years back, Heston Kjerstad was named the MVP of the league.
If you're interest in Davalan's stats...
He went 1 for 5 in his lone game at the Double-A level (I believe he was called up on literally the last day of the regular season). But as for his High-A numbers: .293/.402/.535 with 29 2B, 3 3B, 24 HR, 72 RBI, 63 BB/57 K and 17-20 SB in 115 games.
As many of you know, the UA Board of Trustees called a special meeting yesterday. They immediately went into an executive session (behind closed doors) and that lasted for a little over 2 hours before they returned to the public portion and announced they were taking no action.
They didn't even specify they discussed athletics matters, but it would be stunning if it wasn't about Hunter Yurachek.

However, I wanted to add an additional nugget that isn't in that piece: I've been told the BOT is now 7-3 in favor of getting rid of Yurachek. To me, it seems like it's only a matter of time.
Full disclosure, I heard David Bazzel mention on 103.7 The Buzz this morning that the meeting was not athletics related. Personally, I'd be stunned if Yurachek didn't at least come up during the two hours. Even if he didn't, though, I feel good about my 7-3 intel.
Also worth noting: I saw some of the plane tracker folks posting about a BOT plane going from Fayetteville to LR and back yesterday...but my source indicated that was John Calipari. He was in the state capital yesterday for an event that also featured the Governor of Kentucky.

JSJ is probably the safest bet. He's going to have the ball in his hands so much. We saw it in The Bahamas. Even when his shots weren't falling, he was capable of going for 20+. Wilkinson would be my second choice.
As many of you know, the Hogs hosted Beckham Black - the No. 1 player in the Class of 2027 and the younger brother of Anthony Black - over the weekend.

Much better than I expected! It was great to see Marshall really cut loose. KJ did well, but he still looks uncomfortable out there, to me. Defense was awesome!!!
Springdale Har-Ber guard Syniah Coachman announced her commitment to Arkansas this evening on Instagram. This is a BIG get for Kelsi Musick, as she’s not only the top player in the state for the 2027 class, but also a four-star recruit and the No. 26 player in the country, according to ESPN.
My sources tell me they’re shocked, as Arkansas was believed to be behind several programs, with Ole Miss the presumed leader. But I’m hearing she wanted to stay home.
It’s the second straight year Musick has landed the No. 1 player from the state, as she signed LR Christian standout Whitley Rogers in the past cycle. She’ll be a freshman this year.

As I listened to the Razorbacks go back and forth between KJ Jackson and AJ Hill in today’s game it seemed to me that it was only a matter of time until they try Hank Hendrix out there.
Many reports had Hendrix as the best passer coming out of camp and complimented his ability to learn the offense.
This is a little scary considering Hendrix is I believe still 17 and would have been a senior in high school this year had he not reclassified.
However, if Hendrix is your best option do you really wait? Also to consider is that because Hendrix is already enrolled, if he doesn’t play at all he’s lost a year of his eligibility because of the new 5-for-5 rule.
After considering it for awhile and with at least some production before the game ended I’m not sure it’s inevitable that we’ll see Hendrix, but I’d still give it a 30% chance.

Arkansas has been the butt of jokes all week after its loss to Utah last Saturday. But apparently, the football gods wanted to throw one last jab at the Hogs before today’s kickoff.
A Georgia reporter filmed a skunk running around the stadium early this morning. Of course, the jokes write themselves. Even College GameDay couldn’t help but compare the omen to the state of Arkansas football.
At this rate, it might be the only airtime Arkansas gets on the show this season.
I've been wondering why Ryan Silverfield indicated Monday that they were still hesitant about playing Caleb Wooden and Sean Williams even after they received their injunction. When asked about them, he basically said they were trying to cross their t's and dot their i's with the SEC (a much different approach than LSU, lol). That was especially confusing to me because Brylan Green, the other 5-for-5 guy on the roster, actually played late in the Utah game. Of course, he's eligible via a different court case in Louisiana.
I asked their lawyer, Kael Bowling, whether he believed there could be any hang ups with the SEC and here's what he told me:
"I have no specific knowledge that I can share about whether the school will play my clients, although I hope they choose to do so. But in my view, as a matter of law, Caleb and Sean are eligible to play as a result of the preliminary injunction entered by Judge Martin."
It's worth noting that he expects the NCAA will appeal the injunction, which is immediately allowed under Arkansas law, but that Caleb and Sean "look forward to protecting their rights in that event."
Now, will having them available actually impact the Hogs? Probably not much. Even Silverfield admitted that he thinks their path to playing time is likely on special teams. During last week's hearing, Wooden actually testified under oath that he had been getting first-team reps on a couple of special teams units, so that is very possible. But right now, Miguel Mitchell, Christian Harrison and Kyeaure Magloire have handled almost all of the snaps at safety through two games, except for when Green entered very late in the Utah blowout as I mentioned above. Interestingly, we've yet to see Tay Lockett play defense.
In addition to a Red-White scrimmage, the Diamond Hogs will also hold a home run derby on Friday.

Anyone with two eyes could tell you that these first two games haven’t been pretty for Arkansas. That doesn’t take a rocket scientist.
However, I got to thinking today…
The Hogs were a 40.5-point favorite against North Alabama…and they won by only 17. That’s 23.5 points shy of covering the spread.
Then last night, Arkansas was a 13.5-point underdog at Utah…and lost by 33 (it probably shoulda been worse, too). That’s 19.5 points shy of covering the spread.
So not only is Arkansas 0-2 ATS, it’s been nowhere close to covering — coming up a combined 43 points short.
I looked at the rest of the SEC and that is by far the worst mark in the league. In fact, it’s nearly twice as bad as the next closest — Vandy has been a combined 22 points shy of the spread in wins over Austin Peay and Delaware.
Yikes!
This would be cool regardless, but his promotion to Double-A means he’ll be playing with the Tulsa Drillers…who just so happen to be visiting the Naturals today. So his debut will be in NWA!

Should Arkansas have done more to get this guy? The reports were that they were in on him, but got outbid by Illinois. His stats are certainly better than KJ’s, but in fairness they lost to Duke today.
It’s never just one thing or one player, but do you think Arkansas should have spent more to go get a different quarterback?
The one that comes to mind most is Austin Simmons who has led Mizzou to a 2-0 record and has looked good doing it.
The real question is can they afford it. Hunter Yurachek said they felt like they would be in the top middle of the SEC in spending now, but reports are that Arkansas is 15th of 16 in the SEC. Are the Razorbacks now doomed to suck in the SEC because they just can’t afford to keep up?
I do believe they shoulda gotten a proven QB out of the portal...but I'm not sure how much that woulda helped behind this OL. They've given up 7 sacks and paved the way for less than 3 yards/carry. No bueno!
